The Ouroboros is a mythological snake that eats itself.
In the meme corner of the Internet in our modern age, we can witness some similar behavior performed by snakes. A snake is capable to bait into its own rear.
I just imagine that the primitive ancesters who created the ouroboros symbol has been seen a the same play of nature and became inspired by it.
