Maggie tried to give each visitor to the tea shop the proper attention.
Most of them were delighted when the little calico cat indicated interest in a bit of buttered scone or muffin.
Some were a little hesitant when it seemed that she might opt to jump into a lap just when a cup of hot tea was being lifted to the lips.
But never was a single bit of china knocked to the floor when Maggie leaped to the sideboard and wound her way among the teacups and saucers.
So, really, there was never a need for alarm. Maggie had excellent judgment.
