»Remove« is one of those words that don't quite match what your high school English teacher told you about roots and prefixes and suffixes. We don't say, »I moved my couch into the living room, but I didn't like it there, so I removed it.« Unless, I suppose, you threw your couch away.
Remove and delete mean the same thing, but so do delete and erase. Perhaps remove and erase mean the same thing as each other.
